Venice Municipal Airport
Founded as the US Army Air Corps Venice Base, the Venice Municipal Airport (VNC), 150 Airport Avenue East at the southern end of Venice Island, was deeded to the town after World War II for use as an airfield. It’s now popular with local residents and visitors, and offers pilot training and flying lessons.
The Collings Foundation organizes an annual”Wings of Freedom” tour of historic World War II military aircraft. In Venice, the fly-in of the tour is named Warbirds. Visit Venice Municipal Airport when the historic planes are here and you can inspect them inside and out, and even take flight in them (30-minute flight in a B-17: $450 per person).
